Policeman Who Rejected $200,000 Bribe Converts To Islam

The private event, which took place on Tuesday, marked Amah’s formal conversion to Islam, during which he adopted the name Muhammad.

Speaking in Hausa, the Emir advised Amah to pursue Islamic knowledge and diligently uphold the five pillars of Islam: faith in Allah, the five daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, performing pilgrimage to Mecca, and giving Zakat (charitable donations).

The Emir prayed for Allah’s guidance, hoping that Amah would become one of the best Muslims in the world.

He also encouraged Amah to maintain his exemplary character and always show respect and obedience to his parents, regardless of their religious views.

Amah, who gained national recognition as the Divisional Police Officer in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, previously made headlines in April 2022 for rejecting a $200,000 bribe offered by armed robbery suspects.

These suspects were responsible for a robbery that netted over N300 million, during which they targeted a Bureau De Change operator with $750,000 in cash.

In acknowledgment of his integrity, the Police Service Commission promoted Amah from Chief Superintendent of Police to Assistant Commissioner of Police on November 10, 2022.

Furthermore, Amah was honored by former President Muhammadu Buhari with the prestigious 2022 Public Service Integrity Award, following a recommendation from the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, in a letter dated September 13, 2022.
