Trump Prepares To Revoke Legal Status For Many Migrants Who Arrived Under Biden

The Trump administration is planning to revoke the legal status of many migrants who entered the U.S. under a Biden-era program, which could increase the number of people at risk of deportation, according to an informed source.

The change would primarily impact migrants from Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela, and Haiti, who arrived during President Biden’s term under a humanitarian parole program.

These individuals were allowed to live and work in the U.S. temporarily. Over 530,000 migrants from these countries entered under this program.

Some may qualify for other protections against deportation, but those who haven’t sought alternative legal options could face removal, the source said.

This move is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to revoke temporary protections for migrants already in the country.

Republicans have criticized Biden’s use of the humanitarian parole program, claiming the administration overstepped its authority.

On his first day in office, President Trump ordered an executive review of parole policies.

Biden officials defend the program, stating it helped reduce illegal border crossings by offering a legal route into the U.S.

The program required migrants to have a sponsor, undergo vetting, and complete vaccinations.

The proposal, reported first by CBS News, is still being finalized.

Many of the migrants who arrived under this program have been in the U.S. for under two years.

Trump administration officials have extended an expedited deportation procedure to include undocumented immigrants who cannot prove they’ve lived in the U.S. for at least two years.

This procedure allows for removal without a hearing before an immigration judge, meaning those who lose their parole status could be deported quickly.
