She claimed that masked policemen, driving a car with a concealed license plate, stopped the school bus transporting the child to school, forcibly took the girl, and sped away.

Mr. Nuhu, speaking to journalists in Bauchi over the weekend, confirmed that his son, along with the policemen assigned to him, carried out the abduction two weeks ago.

The commissioner stated that both the state governor, Bala Mohammed, and the Bauchi Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, urged him to carry out the abduction, claiming his actions were supported by a ruling from the upper Sharia court, which granted him custody of the child from his ex-wife.

However, the state high court, which holds higher authority than the Sharia court, has begun proceedings to imprison both the commissioner and the police commissioner for disregarding its ruling, which ordered the parties to maintain the status quo until the Sharia Court of Appeal makes a final decision.
