The national grid experienced another collapse, plunging many Nigerians into darkness.
According to reports, the grid lost power generation shortly after 11 am on Wednesday.
Sources from several power generation companies confirmed the grid disturbance on Wednesday morning.

It was reported that the power cut occurred before noon due to a trip-off, affecting most power plants connected to the grid.
At 11 am, the hourly power generation was 4064 megawatts, but this dropped to 1,203MW by 12 pm and 0.00MW by 1 pm.
This marks the first collapse of the grid in 2025, following a line tripping incident in January. In 2024, the grid collapsed 12 times, contributing to over 100 failures in the last decade.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company confirmed the event on its X handle, saying, “Dear Valued Customer, We regret to inform you that a system disturbance occurred on the national grid at 11:34 am today, causing a power outage across our franchise areas.”
The company assured customers that while power restoration was underway, they were working with stakeholders to fully restore electricity as soon as the grid stabilizes.
