The 2025 edition of the annual 42km Access Bank Lagos City Marathon was once again dominated by East African runners from Kenya and Ethiopia.
Kenya’s Edwin Kibet won the men’s race on Saturday, finishing with a time of 2:14:06 and claiming the $50,000 prize.
Kibet had finished third last year, behind his fellow Kenyan Bernard Sang, who won with a time of 2:16:49, and another Kenyan, Cheprot, who came second.
In the women’s race, Ethiopia’s Guta Meseret Hirpa claimed victory with a time of 2:37:04.
