Why Senate Won’t Investigate Natasha’s Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Akpabio – Senate Spokesman

The Senate’s Spokesman, Yemi Adaramodu, has clarified that there are currently no reports of sexual harassment within the Senate.

Adaramodu explained that no formal complaints regarding sexual harassment have been filed against any principal officer.

During a plenary session, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan violated Senate rules by ignoring an order from the Senate President, who had ruled her out of order.

Despite this, the Kogi Central Senator remained firm, asserting that she would not be silenced and that she was not afraid of the Senate President.

In a television interview, Natasha claimed that the Senate President had been blocking her due to her refusal of his sexual advances.

When asked if the Senate would look into these allegations, Adaramodu emphasized that no complaints had been submitted by anyone.

He remarked, “There is no allegation before the Senate. There is none from anyone, for that matter. We do not entertain allegations based solely on television broadcasts or social media.”

He added, “Nobody has lodged any allegation with anyone in the Senate. The only matter currently at hand is a breach of the Standing Orders, which has been referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions. I do not believe there are any other petitions or complaints before the committee.”

Adaramodu continued, “Unless someone brings up a new issue, it will be dealt with accordingly. For now, there is nothing other than the matter we have referred to the committee.

We may hear many things from outside, but within the Senate, there are no allegations against anyone, no complaints from anyone, and no cases have been presented to us.”
