Tinubu Appoints Professor Jega As Special Adviser

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega, the former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the Special Adviser and Coordinator for the Presidential Livestock Reform.

President Tinubu made the announcement on Friday, with the goal of advancing progress in the livestock sector and enhancing national development initiatives.

Professor Jega, a former Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, co-chaired the Presidential Livestock Committee alongside President Tinubu.

The committee put forward detailed recommendations focused on sustainable livestock reforms, one of which was the establishment of the Livestock Ministry, which now has a minister.

At 68 years old, Jega is a member of the International Elections Advisory Council and serves as the pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council at Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education in Kano State.

He served as INEC Chairman from 2010 to 2015.

His new appointment as Special Adviser to President Tinubu will help strengthen the achievements of the presidential committee and ensure the continuation of the ongoing reforms.
