The Simplified Movement Worldwide, a key support group for Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has welcomed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as the Sole Administrator appointed under President Tinubu’s declared Emergency Rule.
They expressed confidence in Ibas’s capabilities, highlighting his experience as a former naval chief and diplomat.
However, the group strongly disagreed with claims by the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, that rising insecurity necessitated the Emergency Rule.
They labeled these claims as “baseless and fallacious,” asserting that Rivers State has remained peaceful under Governor Fubara’s leadership, despite political tensions.

The group suggested that the President may have been misinformed when declaring the Emergency Rule.
They also pointed out Governor Fubara’s adherence to the rule of law, noting his attempts to present the 2025 budget to the Rivers State House of Assembly, in compliance with a Supreme Court ruling, which they claim were met with resistance.
“The Governor was denied access to the Assembly Quarters despite formally notifying lawmakers of his intention to present the budget. Even after scheduling a third attempt for March 19, the House rebuffed the invitation, only for the Emergency Rule to be declared on the night of March 18,” the statement read.
The Simplified Movement Worldwide accused the Rivers State House of Assembly of intentionally obstructing Governor Fubara’s attempts to present the budget, alleging that their primary objective was impeachment, not legislative oversight.
The group reiterated its steadfast support for Governor Fubara, portraying him as a victim of political manipulation aimed at seizing control of the state’s resources.
“Your Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, an epitome of Nigeria’s democracy, rest assured that the Simplified Movement Worldwide, the most formidable socio-political movement in Rivers State and beyond, stands solidly behind you,” the statement concluded.
The Simplified Movement called for continued prayers for Governor Fubara and urged peace amidst the ongoing political turmoil.
