Fubara Speaks On Alleged Links With Militants, Issues Warning

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has denied any association with militant groups and dismissed recent social media posts and videos as fabricated attempts to create unrest in the state.

Through his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara denounced the circulation of false videos claiming explosions at oil and gas facilities.

The statement emphasized that affected communities have refuted these claims, confirming that all essential infrastructure is secure and functioning.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no link to any militant group, does not contemplate any such association, and has no reason to encourage any criminal elements to undertake actions that threaten peace, security, or the economy,” the statement read.

Fubara reaffirmed his dedication to preserving peace in Rivers State, stressing that stability is essential for effective governance and development.

He cautioned against exploiting the current political situation for personal gain.

Fubara also warned bloggers and social media influencers against disseminating false information, emphasizing the potential for their actions to exacerbate tensions and destabilize the state.

He called upon security agencies to conduct thorough investigations and take firm action against those responsible for spreading misinformation.
