The Rivers State Government has authorized the payment of March salaries for all civil servants, public servants, pensioners, and suspended political appointees.
This directive was issued by the state’s Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, through a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibibia Worika.
The statement instructs the Accountant-General to ensure the prompt remittance of these salaries.

This decision comes in response to growing concerns from labor unions, notably the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which had threatened industrial action due to salary delays.
The NLC had cautioned that continued non-payment could lead to a statewide shutdown of government operations.
The Rivers State Government’s announcement is anticipated to alleviate the rising tensions between the government and labor organizations.
