Tinubu’s Political Adviser, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed Resigns

Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, who served as the political adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has stepped down from his position, according to credible information obtained by Daily Trust.

Presidency insiders confirmed that the former spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) submitted his resignation roughly two weeks ago.

While Dr. Baba-Ahmed cited personal reasons for his decision, he did not go into specifics.

It remains unclear whether the presidency has officially accepted his resignation at the time this report was filed.

Appointed in September 2023, Baba-Ahmed served as Special Adviser on Political Matters in the Office of Vice President Kashim Shettima.

In the course of his 17-month tenure, he represented the presidency at various events, including a recent national conference held in Abuja from January 28–29, 2025, themed: “Strengthening Nigeria’s Democracy: Pathway to Good Governance and Political Integrity.”
