FG Speaks On List Of Ambassadorial Nominees In Circulation

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged the public to ignore a fake list of ambassadorial nominees circulating on social media, stating that it is untrue and deceptive.

Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Acting Spokesperson for the Ministry, clarified in a recent statement that only President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the authority to appoint ambassadors and that no official nominations have been made at this time.

“Kindly disregard the frenzy about the ambassadorial list,” the statement read. “Be rest assured that, when it is ready, Mr. President will transmit the list of nominees to the National Assembly for screening and confirmation.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assured Nigerians that any official list of ambassadorial nominees will be communicated to the public through the proper government channels once it is finalized.

This clarification is being issued amidst increased public interest in Nigeria’s diplomatic representation, particularly after the recall of all ambassadors in September 2023.
