Court Takes Action On Nnamdi Kanu’s In-Law Over Live Streaming Of Court Proceedings

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday barred Favour Kanu, wife of Prince Fineboy Kanu (younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu), from attending three court sessions after she livestreamed the court proceedings on her Facebook page.

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is currently facing terrorism charges brought by the Federal Government.

Justice James Omotosho issued the ruling after Favour Kanu admitted to the act and apologized. He noted that she could have faced contempt of court charges.

Although her apology was supported by Kanu’s lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), the judge maintained the three-hearing suspension, expressing disbelief that she still shared the video online despite having her phone seized during the previous sitting for recording in court.

”I want to hear from her. Were you not the one that I took your phone?

“I did not give order to forfeit that phone. I don’t know if she might be a wife to my brother (Nnamdi Kanu,” the judge said, but Prince told the judge that she is his wife.

The judge warned against any actions that might hinder the progress of the trial and assured all parties involved that justice would be delivered.
