Tinubu Orders Employment Of Thousands Of Youths To Protect Nigeria’s 1,129 Forests

President Bola Tinubu has authorized the creation of a national forest guard force to protect Nigeria’s 1,129 forests from criminal activity.

His spokesperson, Sunday Dare, announced this via his X account on Wednesday evening, stating that the President has ordered that these guards receive thorough training and be equipped with arms to expel terrorists and criminal groups that use the forests as hideouts.

Dare explained, “The recruitment is a joint effort between federal and state governments.

The Office of the National Security Adviser and the Ministry of Environment will oversee full implementation. Thousands of young Nigerians are expected to be employed for the initiative.”

He also conveyed President Tinubu’s firm stance, saying, “President Tinubu reiterated that his administration will not surrender any part of Nigeria’s territory to criminals, vowing to take back the forests.”
