“In the brief but impactful period he spent steering the affairs of our state, he built bridges that have withstood the test of time. Today, we don’t just mourn a former Military Administrator – we mourn a brother who bound Katsina and Benue with cords of friendship that death cannot sever,” the Governor stated.

Governor Radda reflected on the life of Joseph Iorshagher Akaagerger, noting that he was born on May 5, 1956, and embodied the spirit of selfless service. He highlighted that after a commendable military career and his role as Military Administrator in Katsina, Akaagerger returned to his native Benue State, where he was elected Senator for Benue North East in April 2007.

Radda praised the late elder statesman as a remarkable individual who combined military discipline, legal expertise, and a steadfast dedication to democratic principles.

Speaking on behalf of the government and people of Katsina State, the Governor extended heartfelt condolences to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia and the Akaagerger family.

He added that although Akaagerger was Benue-born, his service and legacy earned him a place as a true son of Katsina.

“As we bid farewell to this legal luminary, distinguished soldier, and true servant of the people, we find comfort in the legacies of unity, selfless service, and unwavering integrity he left behind. May God forgive his shortcomings and may his family find the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” the Governor prayed.
