What We All Agreed To Do With Fubara – Wike

Following a peace meeting brokered by President Bola Tinubu on Thursday night, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, announced that he and all major stakeholders in Rivers State have agreed to work with the suspended governor, Sim Fubara.

Wike made the statement to reporters after the closed-door meeting with President Tinubu, Governor Fubara, and some Rivers State lawmakers.

The meeting was also confirmed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his official X account.

“We thank God and to his glory that today, which is June 26, 2025, peace has finally returned to Rivers State,” Wike told reporters after the meeting.

“We have all agreed to work together with the governor, and the governor has also agreed to work with all of us. We are members of the same political family.

“Just like humans, we will have our disagreements, but then, you will also have a time to settle your disagreements, and that has been finally concluded today.

“We have come to report to Mr. President that this is what we have agreed upon. For me, everything is over and I will enjoin everybody who believes in working with us to also work together with everybody and that there is no acrimony. Everything is over. It’s a day we have to thank the Almighty.”

On Thursday night, President Bola Tinubu held a reconciliation meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, bringing together all the key figures involved in the Rivers State political crisis.

This included former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, who have been in conflict since 2023 due to political differences.
