The Senate Committee on Public Accounts has ordered Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), to appear before it on July 10, 2025.
The committee warned that it may issue an arrest warrant if he fails to show up.
The directive was issued by the committee chairman, Senator Ahmed Wadada, after NNPCL officials failed to appear for a scheduled session to address queries from an audit report.

The company was expected to respond to questions regarding an alleged ₦210 trillion in unaccounted funds from 2017 to 2023.
Instead of appearing, the NNPCL sent a letter signed by Adedapo Segun, requesting a two-month extension to prepare a detailed response.
Senator Wadada immediately rejected the request, calling the absence of NNPCL officials a sign of disrespect for the committee’s summons.
“We expected representatives from the NNPCL to be before us today to answer questions thrown at them last week… Their absence is unacceptable,” Wadada stated.
He emphasized that the committee was not expecting documents but rather answers to the 11 questions posed last week.
“Therefore, the GCEO of NNPCL must appear before us on July 10 for the expected answers.”
Wadada warned that if Ojulari fails to appear, the committee will not hesitate to use its constitutional powers to compel his attendance.
He also threatened to adopt audit queries against other defaulting agencies, including the FCT High Court and the Federal Ministries of Solid Minerals, Steel Development, and Finance, if they fail to appear before the committee next week.
