Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been named the new Acting National Chairman following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje.
According to a statement by APC spokesman Felix Morka, Ganduje, the former Kano State governor, resigned on Thursday to attend to “urgent and important personal matters.”
In his resignation letter to the National Working Committee (NWC), he thanked President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve.

Morka confirmed that President Tinubu has directed Dalori to take over as Acting National Chairman.
This is a temporary measure until the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) can be summoned to fill the vacancy.
Ganduje, who is from the North-West zone, took over the party’s leadership in August 2023 after the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu, who was from the North Central zone.
His appointment had faced resistance from within the party, with some members arguing that it violated the internal zoning arrangements.
In addition to his political role, Ganduje was appointed as the Board Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) by President Tinubu in January 2025 and was also reportedly being considered for a non-career ambassadorial position.
