Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has approved a unique measure to support civil servants: converting the May 2025 salary, which was paid early for the Eid-el-Adha celebration, into a soft loan.
This loan will be repaid by workers in three monthly installments.
According to a statement released on Friday by the governor’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, the decision was made to help ease the financial strain on civil servants after the festive season.

Governor Aliyu acknowledged that many workers were still facing financial challenges from expenses incurred during the Sallah festivities.
He explained, “This measure is intended to support them by easing immediate financial strain, allowing for repayment in three convenient monthly deductions.”
In a related directive, the governor ordered the immediate payment of June 2025 salaries for all state workers, including staff in state and local governments, Local Government Education Authorities, and pensioners.
These payments are expected to begin on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Aliyu reiterated his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the civil service and urged workers to show their appreciation through increased dedication, punctuality, and discipline.
He also thanked the people of Sokoto State for their continued support and promised to deliver more democratic dividends.
