Speaking to his supporters in Port Harcourt on Saturday, the governor assured them that his recent reconciliation with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, was made with their collective interest at heart.

Fubara acknowledged the “anxiety and disappointment” his loyalists felt after the peace deal but stressed that difficult times require difficult decisions.

The governor admitted that the new political reality might be “painful for some to accept,” especially for those who stood by him during the turbulence.

He emphasized, however, that the larger goal is the peace and stability of the state, noting that the political crisis had caused delays in several development projects.

He expressed optimism that with the reconciliation process in motion, project implementation will accelerate.

Addressing the tensions, Governor Fubara acknowledged Wike’s role in his emergence as governor, stating that this political history cannot be erased.

He urged his supporters to prove their loyalty and trust in his leadership, even when immediate political rewards are uncertain.

Fubara also disclosed that President Bola Tinubu personally intervened and gave a clear directive for both him and Wike to reconcile for the state’s sake.

In a passionate appeal, he urged everyone who believes in his leadership to embrace peace, allowing the state to recover and move forward.
