The federal government has dispatched a high-level delegation to Saudi Arabia for the burial of renowned Kano business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.
The delegation is led by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi; the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru; and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.
This development comes after Saudi Arabian authorities granted approval to transport Dantata’s body from Dubai to the holy city of Medina for his final Islamic funeral rites.

Dantata, a prominent Nigerian businessman, philanthropist, and elder statesman, passed away on June 28 at the age of 95.
Born into the influential Dantata trading family in Kano in 1931, he inherited and expanded a vast conglomerate with interests in construction, manufacturing, and oil and gas, among other sectors.
Beyond his business achievements, he was also a respected public figure who served as a commissioner in the old Kano State and was often consulted by political leaders.
He was known for his humility and deep commitment to charity.
At the burial, the Nigerian delegation is expected to speak on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, honoring Dantata as a “towering figure in Nigerian history.”
Alhaji Mustapha Junaidu, the late Dantata’s principal private secretary, confirmed the approval on his verified Facebook account, stating that the delay in burial arrangements was partly due to the weekend.
Junaidu announced that “It has been confirmed that Aminu Alhassan Dantata will be transported from Abu Dhabi to the holy city of Madinah for his final rites.”
He added that funeral prayers (Janazah) were scheduled for Monday morning.
On Saturday, the Kano State Council of Ulama held a special funeral prayer in absentia for the late Alhaji Dantata in Kano.6 He will be laid to rest beside his wife’s grave in Medina, fulfilling his personal wish.
