The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced a significant milestone in its asset recovery efforts: a confiscated property belonging to a former civil servant in Kaduna State has been converted into a full-fledged federal university.
During a stakeholders’ sensitization program in Lagos on Friday, Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, revealed that the recovered property now houses the newly established Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna.
This move, he stated, demonstrates the Commission’s new focus on using recovered assets to directly benefit the public.

“This is what accountability looks like, assets recovered from corruption being repurposed to serve the people,” Olukoyede emphasized.
Olukoyede also highlighted other successful recoveries, including funds from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) that were utilized to establish a skill acquisition center and a liaison office in Bayelsa State.
He further noted that over N100 billion recovered by the EFCC has been injected into critical social programs under the Tinubu administration, such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) and the CrediCorp consumer credit scheme.
He stressed that these are “real interventions funded by money recovered from corrupt individuals and organizations”.
