Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, declaring that Muhammadu Buhari’s government was “100 times better.”
Amaechi made this assertion during a discussion on an X space, citing the current economic hardship in the country.
He lamented the high cost of living, stating, “For Christ’s sake, were you dying of hunger? What we pay here is ₦1 million every week for power (₦4 million in a month). How many people can afford that?”.
He went on to say, “But it was not like that when Buhari was in power. Why are we comparing diamond to gold? In fact, this government is not even gold at all.”

Amaechi’s comparison comes after he left the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he is now part of a new alliance with other figures like Atiku Abubakar and Nasir El-Rufai to unseat the current government in the 2027 elections.
He vowed to support the ADC’s presidential candidate if they emerge from a free and fair primary election, stating: “I will be deeply devoted to the campaign and will do everything in my power to help ADC unseat this current clueless government.”
Amaechi also outlined his personal agenda, promising: “I will abandon the coastal road; that road is for stealing.”
He added that if he becomes president, “Electoral reforms are the lowest-hanging fruit for me,” and they would be implemented within his “first six months.”
