President Bola Tinubu has appointed Prof. Yahaya Bunkure as the new Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Kaduna State.
This was announced in a statement on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, titled “President Tinubu appoints Nakore, Kodage into governing council of Federal University of Education Kano, Bunkure, names VC Federal University of Education Zaria.”
Prof. Bunkure, an expert in science education, currently serves as the Vice Chancellor of Saadatu Rimi University of Education in Kano.

The president also appointed engineer Abdurrazaq Nakore as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano, while Prof. Abdullahi Kodage was named Vice Chancellor of the same university.
Nakore, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, previously served as Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Rural Electricity Board.
Both institutions — Federal University of Education, Zaria, and Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano — were upgraded from Colleges of Education to universities between 2022 and 2023.
According to the statement, the Pro-Chancellor will hold office for four years, while the Vice Chancellors will serve a five-year tenure.
