Former “Your View” host and TVC Entertainment Managing Director, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has explained that she supported President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections due to “past favours and the opportunity she calculated it to be.”
Speaking on the “With Chude” podcast, Afolabi-Brown revealed that her family had a “long-standing relationship with Tinubu.”
She recalled that when her father was ill, Tinubu, who was then governor, “stood by my mother” and “helped with medical bills.”
She added that he also later “helped me, held my brother’s hand in politics.”

She clarified that her career was not a result of this relationship, insisting that she got her job at TVC “purely on merit” and that it “had nothing to do with Asiwaju.”
She said she had two choices when the campaign reached out: “say no or support him, because I actually did support him.”
She chose to support him “openly” because she “believed in his candidacy” and saw it as a “good opportunity” to work “closely with the media team.”
Afolabi-Brown admitted that her involvement in the campaign raised questions about her journalistic neutrality, but she dismissed the doubts.
She said, “the truth is that it’s a perception. The perception is always reality. Because the truth is that I think TVC is probably one of the most objective stations. It’s hard to believe, but it’s the truth.”
She also expressed pride in her long-running talk show, “Your View,” saying, “I’m proud of where we are 12 years after” and “I love the fact that many more people have replicated the format, which is really great.”
