‘I Know Where Bandits Are, With My Phone I Can Show You Their Location’ – Zamfara Governor

The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has stated that he knows the exact locations of “bandit leaders” terrorizing the state but is “powerless to act” because he does not have command over security agencies.

In a viral video, Lawal said the ongoing fight against insecurity is being “crippled” by the fact that security chiefs in the state take directives only from Abuja.

He claimed, “I swear to Almighty Allah, wherever a bandit leader is located within Zamfara State, I know it and if he goes out, I know.”

He added, “With my mobile phone, I can show you where and where these bandits are today. But we cannot do anything beyond our powers.”

Lawal stated that if he had the authority to give orders, he could “end banditry in Zamfara State within two months.”

He cited an incident where security operatives in Shinkafi Local Government Area “refused to go simply because they were not given orders from Abuja,” even after being alerted to a bandit invasion.

Despite his limited authority, the governor stressed that his administration has gone “the extra mile to support security outfits.”

He has distributed “150 patrol vehicles” and recruited thousands of “Community Protection Guards.”

He concluded, “I am doing all these despite the fact that I have no control over the security agencies; but because it’s my responsibility to protect the lives and properties of the people of Zamfara.”
