Supporters Troop To Rivers Government House Ahead Of Fubara’s Return [VIDEOS]

Thousands of Rivers State residents are gathered in front of the Government House in Port Harcourt this Thursday, awaiting the arrival of their reinstated Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Different groups and supporters were in a “jubilant mood, beating drums and dancing” as they anticipated the governor’s return.

On Wednesday evening, President Bola Tinubu announced the suspension of the “state of emergency” that had been in effect in the state, thereby “restoring democratically elected governor, His deputy and members of the State House of Assembly.”

Tinubu declared the “state of emergency” on March 18, 2025, which suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, and the elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for six months due to a protracted political crisis.

During this period, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retired) was appointed as the “sole administrator to run the affairs of the state.”
