President Bola Tinubu has requested the Senate to confirm the appointment of Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, as the chairman of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) board.
The request was contained in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Wednesday’s plenary session.
Tinubu stated that the nomination was made in accordance with the provisions of section 116 of the Nigerian Communications Commission Act 2003.”

The President’s letter added, “I am pleased to present, for confirmation by the senate, the appointment of the underlisted eight persons as chairman and members of the board of Universal Service Provision Board (USPF).”
The full list of nominees presented by the President includes:
- Idris Olorunimbe as vice-chairman
- Abraham Oshidami
- Rimini Makama
- Aliyu Edogi Aliyu (representing the ministry of communications)
- Joseph B. Faluyi (representing the ministry of finance)
- Auwal Mohammed (representing the ministry of budget and national planning)
- Uzoma Dozie
- Peter Bankole
- Abayomi Anthony Okanlawon
- Gafar Oluwasegun Quadri
Tinubu urged the Senate to give the request their “usual prompt consideration.”
In response, Senate President Akpabio referred the nominations to the Senate Committee on Communications, directing the committee to submit its findings and recommendations within one week.
