The Lagos State Police Command has officially declared activist Mr. Omoyele Sowore wanted, accusing him of allegedly plotting to “incite public disorder and obstruct major roads in the state.”
The declaration was made on Monday at the Iyana-Oworo section of the Third Mainland Bridge by Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, who stated that the command was actively “closing in on Sowore and others accused of coordinating activities intended to disrupt public peace.”
Jimoh issued a stern warning, insisting that “Sowore should surrender at the nearest police station or face arrest wherever he is found,” and vowing that “Anyone attempting to cause disturbance or block our roads will face the full weight of the law.”

According to the Commissioner, “intelligence reports indicated that Sowore and his associates planned to stage demonstrations at strategic locations,” specifically mentioning the “Third Mainland Bridge, Lekki Tollgate, and Freedom Park.”
Jimoh condemned the alleged plan as criminal, warning that it could cause serious traffic issues and “endanger lives,” noting that “It is only someone who needs examination that would attempt to block such a vital route used by thousands daily.”
He also highlighted the structural risks involved, cautioning that “The Third Mainland Bridge was not designed to hold stationary weight. Any gathering on it could pose structural risks.”
The Commissioner confirmed that the command has already arrested “13 suspects” in connection with the planned protest, while Sowore allegedly “fled,” and that “Investigations are ongoing to identify sponsors and collaborators.”
To maintain order, Jimoh stated that officers have been deployed across key areas, including major bridges and highways, where “roadblocks and diversions were in place,” emphasizing that these measures are “temporary and aimed at safeguarding peace and protecting critical infrastructure.”
The Commissioner also addressed the recent controversial demolitions in the Oworo-Soki area, asserting that the government had already compensated “eligible residents,” which was “witnessed by the media,” and concluded that there is “no justification to provoke crisis under the guise of protest.”
He assured Lagos residents that security agencies are fully deployed to maintain order and urged them to proceed with “normal activities without fear,” reaffirming that the police “will apprehend, investigate, and prosecute anyone attempting to undermine public safety in Lagos,” and that freedom of expression must not be allowed to “turn into public nuisance or risk lives.”
