The reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo, Philip Shaibu, was unexpectedly included in the 197-member list released by the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to lead its governorship campaign in the state ahead of the September 21 election.
Shaibu, who was recently reinstated by a Federal High Court in Abuja after being removed by the Edo House of Assembly three months ago, had his impeachment declared illegal by Judge James Omotosho.

The APC’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, released the list, which names Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu as the chairman of the campaign. Otu will be supported by Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda as co-chairman and former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole as deputy chairman.
Other notable members of the 197-person team include Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (Assistant Secretary), Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other governors elected under the APC banner.
