Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has confirmed his starting lineup for the critical Group C clash against Tanzania at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Leading the squad are star striker Victor Osimhen, goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, and midfield maestro Alex Iwobi.
There had been significant concern regarding Nwabali’s availability leading up to the tournament due to injury struggles.

However, the Chippa United shot-stopper has successfully recovered in time to take his place in goal for the match.
“Nwabali was in doubt ahead of the tournament after struggling with injuries, but the Chippa United man has recovered in good time for the game.”
With the defense anchored by Nwabali, the team’s offensive strategy is clear, as the reigning African Footballer of the Year, Victor Osimhen, has been tapped to “spearhead the team’s attack” as the primary striker.
The Galatasaray man will be supported in the attack by Akor Adams, while Samuel Chukwueze and Ademola Lookman are on both flanks for the Super Eagles.
The defensive setup sees a unique configuration where in defence, Calvin Bassey will pair with Calvin Bassey.
Supporting the center of the backline, Zaidu Sanusi and Bright Osayi-Samuel are in the left and right full-back positions, respectively.
To control the center of the pitch, Fulham’s Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi will be pulling strings in midfield.
