The Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed viral social media reports claiming that Senator Abdullahi Adamu, a former National Chairman of the party, has defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement released on Friday by the party’s State Organising Secretary, Hassan Abubakar, the APC labeled the rumors as false, misleading, and the work of political detractors.
The party maintained that the reports were baseless propaganda intended to tarnish the reputation of the elder statesman and create unnecessary tension within the party ranks.

The statement affirmed that the former governor remains a devoted member of the ruling party, noting:“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, at no time, defected, contemplated defection, or associated himself with any other political party.”
Abubakar clarified that the images circulating online, which were being used as “proof” of the defection, were actually captured during the ongoing APC e-membership registration and revalidation exercise.
The party explained that the photos show the Senator performing his constitutional duty to strengthen the party’s internal database.
The APC described the misrepresentation of this activity as “irresponsible and politically desperate,” adding that Adamu’s “loyalty and contributions to the growth, development and stability of the APC are well documented and remain unquestionable.”
