Musa Garba, a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Zamfara State.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the former AIG was formally presented with his membership card on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Sabongari Ward office in Gusau.
A large crowd of ADC supporters and various party stakeholders gathered to welcome the retired security chief.

Speaking to journalists after the ceremony, Garba explained that his move into the political arena was a personal choice driven by a desire to improve the state’s leadership.
He stated:“I decided to join politics because of my mission to bring changes to the leadership of our dear state. As a security expert who just retired from service, I think I can contribute my own quota towards addressing the security challenges faced by our dear state and country.”
He further noted that he selected the ADC because its principles align with his political goals, adding:“I choose the ADC, considering its ideologies which are in line with my mission of joining politics.”
Expressing his enthusiasm for this new chapter, Garba pledged to work diligently for the party’s growth. The Zamfara State ADC Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Garba, hailed the defection as a significant achievement, describing the ADC as the “party to beat” in the state.
He assured the retired AIG of a level playing field, stating:“This is a great opportunity for us to thank the Almighty Allah for getting more responsible and valuable people joining the party.”
