The Senate has formally called for the dismissal of Husaini Magaji, the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), following his persistent refusal to appear before lawmakers.
This decision was reached after Senator Orji Uzor Kalu raised a motion during a session where the President’s economic team met with the Senate Committee on Finance.
The session began on a tense note as lawmakers expressed their deep dissatisfaction upon discovering the CAC boss was absent, despite being summoned to provide an account of the commission’s activities.

Senator Kalu, visibly frustrated, moved the motion for Magaji’s immediate removal, citing his continuous avoidance of the finance committee.
“Since I came to the Senate, he has always given excuses that he is in the Villa,” Kalu stated.
Senator Sani Musa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, supported these concerns, highlighting unresolved discrepancies in the reconciliation of the commission’s revenues.
He noted that the agency head has repeatedly failed to show up to address these financial matters.
Adding weight to the disciplinary action, Senator Adams Oshiomhole suggested that the Senate go a step further by withholding the approval of the CAC’s 2026 budget.
Ultimately, the motion requesting that the President remove the CAC boss was officially adopted.
The current Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Hussaini Ishaq Magaji (SAN), was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
His appointment was approved on October 13, 2023, as part of a broader shake-up of leadership across agencies under the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
Magaji, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, assumed duty shortly after, on October 16, 2023, succeeding Alhaji Garba Abubakar.
