President Bola Tinubu has approved a fresh wave of appointments and tenure renewals for several key institutions under the Federal Ministry of Education.
The changes affect the National Examination Council (NECO), the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the National Library of Nigeria, and the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak Shendam.
The President appointed Modupe Adelabu, a retired professor of educational administration and former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, as the Chairman of the Governing Board of NECO. While she takes over the board, the President retained Ibrahim Wushishi as the council’s Registrar.
For the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), distinguished academic Babatunde Salako has been named the new Chairman.
Mr. Salako is a highly respected researcher who recently served as the Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) from 2016 to 2024.

Additionally, the President had earlier reappointed Idris Bugaje as the NBTE’s Executive Secretary for a final five-year term on April 10.
Following a competitive selection process that began with public advertisements in September 2025, Bongfa Binfa has been appointed as the new Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam, Plateau State.
Mr. Binfa, who holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, succeeds the pioneer Rector, Mukaila Ya’u, whose tenure ended on March 16, 2026.
Prior to this, Binfa served as the Deputy Rector (Academic) at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.
President Tinubu also approved a final five-year term for Chinwe Anunobi as the Director/Chief Executive of the National Library of Nigeria.
Originally appointed in September 2021, Ms. Anunobi has been credited with modernizing the institution through digital initiatives like the National Virtual Library and the National Repository of Nigeria.
The President noted that her reappointment is intended to ensure “continuity in the implementation of ongoing reforms, completion of the National Library Headquarters project, and execution of the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan of the institution.”
These appointments are seen as a strategic move to strengthen governance within Nigeria’s educational agencies by blending veteran administrative experience with technical expertise.
