Yerima Shettima, the convener of the Northern Stakeholders Consultative Initiative, has officially entered the 2027 political race, declaring his intention to run for the Kaduna Central senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Announcing his bid at the party’s secretariat in Kaduna, Shettima emphasized that his decision was rooted in a desire to offer high-quality representation for his constituents and the country.
He clarified that his campaign is built on action rather than rhetoric, stating that he was not there to make empty promises but to prove his readiness for effective leadership.
During his declaration, he assured the party leadership, “I will not let the party, the state, and Nigeria down if given the opportunity,” while noting that the APC’s success hinges on fielding credible candidates.

Shettima further expressed his full loyalty to the APC and took the opportunity to praise the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for their work in reforming the nation and Kaduna State.
In response, the APC Secretary in Kaduna, Abubakar Rabiu Abubakar, hailed Shettima’s entry into the race, describing him as a powerful voice for youth inclusion.
He noted that Shettima’s ambition fits perfectly with Governor Sani’s goal of providing equal opportunities for all members.
Abubakar stressed that the party is looking for dedicated individuals to expand its influence, stating, “The party needs individuals who are working tirelessly to propagate its ideals in every nook and cranny.”
