Seventeen members of the House of Representatives have officially left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
These moves were announced during Tuesday’s plenary session.
This follows Monday’s high-profile move where the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the former New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) flagbearer, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, also switched from the ADC to the NDC, adding a “fresh twist to the 2027 general elections race.”
Additionally, the defection of Leke Abejide from the ADC to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was confirmed during the session.
The lawmakers who defected to the NDC include Yusuf Datti, Uchenna Okonkwo, Adamu Wakili, Thaddeus Attah, George Ozodinobi, Lilian Orogbu, Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, Peter Aniekwe, Mukhtar Zakari, George Oluwande, and Munachim Umezuruike.
Others are Emeka Idu, Jesse Onuakalusi, Ifeanyi Uzokwe, Afam Ogene, Abdulhakeem Ado, and Murphy Osaro Omoruyi.
