The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially formed a high-level Screening Committee to vet sitting governors who are either seeking re-election or aiming for seats in the Senate.
In a strategic move, the party announced that the committee is chaired by the Party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, while the APC National Secretary, Sen. Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, Ph.D, serves as Secretary.
Other members of the Committee include members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

The screening for these incumbent governors and Senate aspirants will take place at the Plateau State Governors Lodge.
The exercise is scheduled to run from Friday, May 8 to Saturday, May 9, 2026.
The party noted that proceedings commence at 4:00 PM on the first day and 10:00 AM on the second day.
Additionally, the screening for all other governorship aspirants is set for Saturday, May 9 to Sunday, May 10, 2026.
This exercise will be held at the NWC Hall, APC National Secretariat, Abuja, beginning at 10:00 AM daily.
The direct involvement of the National Chairman in this process highlights the importance the APC is placing on the selection of its top-tier candidates for the upcoming elections.
