Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the sad passing of veteran Yoruba movie star Fesogboye Oyewole.
The unfortunate news first surfaced on social media when veteran actor Mr Latin posted a tribute on Facebook.
He wrote: “GOOD NIGHT, UNCLE FESO.”
Not long after the news broke, the family of Fesogboye Oyewole released an official statement to confirm the painful loss.
According to his relatives, the veteran actor breathed his last on Friday, May 29, 2026. While they chose not to reveal what led to his demise, they expressed gratitude to Allah for a life well-spent and requested prayers for his soul.
They also honored his memory by describing him as a caring family man who was deeply cherished as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
The statement read: “With complete submission to the will of Allah (SWT), we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother and uncle, Comrade Baniyamin Fesogboye Oyewole, who returned to his Creator on Friday, 29th May, 2026. We thank Allah for the life He granted him and pray that He forgives his shortcomings, expands his grave, illuminates it with His mercy, and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
The family further disclosed that the late actor will be buried at his country home located in Oke Orogbo, Lalupon, Ibadan, Oyo State.
His death has added to the heavy cloud of grief hanging over the Nigerian movie industry, coming just twenty-four hours after the confirmed demise of another popular actor, Patrick Okoye.
