Following his arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, video footage has captured the dramatic scene as prison officials arrived to transport activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, to the Kuje Correctional Centre.

The development follows Justice Mohammed Umar’s decision to revoke Sowore’s bail and order his detention until Wednesday.

Earlier in the session, the court rejected Sowore’s formal application for the judge to recuse himself from the trial.

Sowore had cited a “reasonable apprehension of bias” in his request, but Justice Umar ruled the application lacked merit, labeling the motion an “afterthought.”

The video shows a tense standoff during the transfer process.

This incident occurred shortly after DSS operatives took the activist into custody.

According to SaharaReporters, “about 10 armed DSS operatives, dressed in black, forcibly dragged Sowore out of the court premises despite protests from persons present.”

Sowore, now represented by new counsel Adeyinka Patrick Olumide-Fusika (SAN), continues to face charges linked to past public statements, which he denies.
