Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the resumption of his ongoing trial.
The case involves allegations of financial misconduct filed against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The former governor arrived at the court premises at approximately 9:30 a.m., accompanied by a security escort.
The legal proceedings, which center on charges of abuse of office, financial impropriety, and fraud allegedly committed during his time as governor, were previously adjourned until June 24, 2026, due to the absence of two co-defendants.
El-Rufai has consistently denied all allegations, while the ICPC maintains that it holds sufficient evidence to support the charges.
On April 14, 2026, the presiding judge, Justice Rilwan Aikawa, granted the former governor bail set at N200 million.
The bail conditions required two sureties: one being a serving or retired civil servant at Grade Level 15, and the other a recognized traditional ruler. Following the ruling, El-Rufai’s legal team filed an application to have these bail conditions varied, but the court turned down the request.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, the two co-defendants are expected to be present as the court continues the hearing on the substantive matter.
As has been the style of the court, journalists were barred from the courtroom to cover the proceedings.
