Isaac Fayose has stated that his elder brother, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, will reject his recent appointment as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) by President Bola Tinubu, describing the role as a “yeye appointment.”
Reacting in a Facebook post on Tuesday to a PUNCH Online report referencing Ayo Fayose’s previous declaration that he would rather stay at home than work for the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government, the younger Fayose dismissed the job offer.
“My brother won’t take the yeye appointment… E lo fi okan bale,” he wrote, accompanied by laughing emojis.
The younger Fayose had earlier criticized the appointment in a video posted on his Instagram page, arguing that the former Ekiti governor deserved a far more prominent role in the Tinubu administration.
“They said they gave my brother DG, DG, not a minister, not ambassador.”
“They said they gave him DG, head of parastatal, chairman of a committee. They no see give him minister, they no give him ambassador,” he said.
Drawing a comparison with former presidential aide Reno Omokri, Isaac added:
“Even Reno Omokri sef, they gave him ambassador. They couldn’t give my brother ambassador. So why just chairman of a parastatal?”
He also alleged that the political appointment was directly influenced by the recent visit of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to his private residence.
“They gave my brother DG because Obi came on Saturday to visit me. So they said, no, we must enter that family,” he claimed.
Isaac further advised his elder brother to hand over the position to one of his children, insisting that a board chairmanship does not reflect Ayo Fayose’s political stature.
President Tinubu on Monday announced Ayo Fayose as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency as part of 26 fresh appointments into the boards of 10 federal government agencies and commissions.
The offer comes months after Fayose publicly stated he had no interest in serving in the Tinubu administration despite maintaining a cordial relationship with the President.
