According to IOL, a South African news platform, the court rescheduled the hearing to February 27, 2027. Following the court session, Ms Adetshina reiterated that she was born in South Africa.

She further contended that state authorities are attempting to single her out through the ongoing legal proceedings.

“I want to remind everyone that I was born in South Africa. I have applied through the proper legal channels to determine my status and citizenship,” Ms Adetshina stated.

She emphasized that authorities must prevent xenophobia and misinformation from influencing official decisions regarding individual treatment.

The anti-migrant organization March and March organized a peaceful demonstration during her court appearance, urging her immediate return to Nigeria. The collective has consistently advocated for the removal of undocumented individuals from South Africa.

Demonstrators carried placards featuring diverse slogans and followed Ms Adetshina’s vehicle as she departed the courthouse premises.

Deportation procedures against Ms Adetshina commenced in June following her arrest by immigration officials in Cape Town over allegations of unlawful residency.

She subsequently appeared at the Cape Town Regional Court following her detention in Summer Greens, where she was released on a warning while the Department of Home Affairs advanced its deportation efforts.
