Chief Dan Orbih, a prominent political ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and a former National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has passed away.
The Orbih family announced that he died on Monday, August 31, 2026, in a statement signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih.
Describing the event as a painful loss, the family shared: “With profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the Almighty God, the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announce the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, 31 August 2026”.
Recognized as a leading figure in the South-South bloc of the PDP, Orbih was widely known as one of Wike’s closest associates, standing by him through the internal crises that shook the party.
He also played a significant role in regional party affairs, particularly within Edo State.
He leaves behind his wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih, his daughters, Ms. Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih, alongside his siblings and extended family.
The family appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to remember them in prayers during this period of mourning, adding: “At this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well-wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss. Further details will be announced in due course.”
The statement concluded with: “May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
