Boko Haram Breaks Silence On Alleged Ceasefire Agreement With FG

The terrorist organization Boko Haram has refuted claims of reaching a truce with the Nigerian government, labeling allegations of a covert peace deal and a 5 billion naira payout as complete fabrications.

A representative named Mallam Abdulrahman addressed viewers in a seven-minute broadcast issued on Sunday, delivering remarks in Arabic before transitioning to Hausa on behalf of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, the faction headed by Abu Umaima, who is also known as Bakura Doro.

Abdulrahman persistently dismissed the truce claims as false, reiterating that his faction has held no discussions whatsoever with state officials.

The broadcast surfaced following media coverage alleging that federal authorities had mediated a short-term peace arrangement with the fighters to facilitate the freedom of kidnapped residents in Ngoshe, located in Borno State.

Speculation also indicated that the deal included a 5 billion naira financial payout to the militant outfit, an assertion federal authorities previously rejected.

According to Abdulrahman in the recent footage, the faction only discovered the widespread peace rumors through press coverage a couple of days ago.

He alleged that official channels fabricated the story to mislead the populace in preparation for the 2027 electoral cycle.

Although he noted that peacemaking is recognized within Islamic doctrine, he maintained that no operational understanding has been executed with the administration.

He said, “It is not that there is no room. We know there is reconciliation in religion. But this reconciliation that you are spreading word of is a lie.”

Reflecting on the movement’s past, Abdulrahman referenced founding figure Mohammed Yusuf alongside former head Abubakar Shekau, noting that both figures historically repudiated Nigeria’s democratic governance.

He further noted that the present command under Abu Umaima has not sanctioned any form of settlement with state organs.

He cautioned that the insurgent force plans to execute further strikes at every given chance, reiterating that neither its top commanders nor operational heads maintain any involvement with alleged peace negotiations.
