The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has named three All Progressives Congress (APC) governors leading the opposition against his Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Monday during an interview on TVC’s Journalists’ Hangout, Wike explicitly identified Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun as the key figures fighting the movement.
Wike clarified that the opposition is not unanimous among ruling party leaders, asserting that several APC governors support the Rainbow Coalition—a cross-party movement established to build support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign across political divides.
He cited the governors of Adamawa, Edo, Kogi, Lagos, and Akwa Ibom, alongside the governor of Ondo State, as leaders who have raised no objections to the initiative.
“How can a governor leave his state and go to Abuja to complain that Rainbow Coalition is a distraction? Is that a serious governor?” Wike questioned.
“Adamawa, Edo, Kogi, Lagos and Akwa-Ibom state governors do not have a problem with the Rainbow Coalition. I saw Ondo Governor there, and I was shocked,” he added.
The FCT minister subsequently narrowed down the opposition to the three state executives.
“The governors having issues with me are Governor Hope Uzodimma, Governor Abdulrazaq and Governor Dapo Abiodun,” Wike stated.
The revelation comes amid intensifying political friction between the FCT minister and the leadership of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) over the structure and influence of the Rainbow Coalition.
The APC governors opposed to Wike’s Rainbow Coalition are:
- Governor Hope Uzodimma (Imo State)
- Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara State)
- Governor Dapo Abiodun (Ogun State)
