2027: NDC Begins Mobilisation Of Polling Agents Nationwide

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has directed its state and Local Government Area (LGA) chairmen to immediately begin the compilation and harmonization of party agents ahead of the 2027 general elections, issuing a two-week deadline for final list submissions to national leadership.

In an official statement signed on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the party instructed regional executives to convene emergency meetings with candidates and key stakeholders to finalize agent selection.

Director clarified that the nationwide mobilization aligns with statutory requirements established under the Electoral Act, 2026.

According to the directive, the party will compile two distinct sets of polling agents: one assigned to the National Assembly elections, and another dedicated to the governorship and State House of Assembly polls.

The NDC noted that all submitted lists will undergo formal review and ratification by party leadership, alongside its presidential candidate and vice-presidential running mate, prior to the kickoff of official training programs.

To establish accountability and prevent post-nomination disputes, the party mandated that state chairmen and their corresponding candidates jointly sign the final document.

Addressing potential administrative deadlocks between local party organs and election contenders, the leadership ruled that the candidate’s preference will take precedence in any disagreement over agent choices.

“That State and LGA Chairmen shall meet with candidates and stakeholders to generate a comprehensive list of two sets of party agents; those for national assembly elections and another set for governorship/state assembly elections,” the statement read in part.

“These party agents shall be scrutinised and ratified by the party’s leadership, including the presidential candidate and his running mate, before training commences,” Director added.

Reassuring party faithful regarding operational readiness, the publicity secretary affirmed that election structures have been fully activated for the upcoming campaign cycle.

“The leadership of the party wishes to reassure all members, supporters and stakeholders that the National Democratic Congress is fully prepared and ready for a robust, issue-based campaign, with all necessary structures firmly in place for victory,” he stated.
