How To Change Phone Number, Email On JAMB Portal

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a process allowing candidates who have lost access to their registered GSM numbers or email addresses to update their details on the JAMB portal.

The examination body announced the development in a video posted on its official X handle, outlining the step-by-step procedure candidates must follow to access the service.

This update comes in response to numerous complaints from candidates locked out of their profiles because they could no longer access their old phone numbers or email addresses.

The board stated, “Candidates who lost their SIM card can now swap it with a new one. And those who also lost access to their email addresses on the JAMB portal can now change to a new one.”

According to JAMB, affected candidates must adhere to the following procedure to complete the update:

1. Get a court affidavit: Affected candidates should visit a High Court and obtain a formal affidavit supporting their request for a SIM swap or email change.

2. Log into JAMB e-Facility: Candidates need to sign in to their existing JAMB e-Facility profile using their credentials.

3. Select ‘Penalties’: On the main menu dashboard, navigate to and select the “Penalties” section.

4. Select SIM Swap/Email Change: Under penalties, choose the option for “SIM Swap/eMail Change Penalty Payment”.

5. Pay the prescribed fee: Make the required service payment electronically through the portal.

6. Visit a designated JAMB office: Proceed to an approved JAMB Professional Testing Centre (PTC), Professional Registration Centre (PRC), or State Office where the service is available.

7. Provide details: Present your profile code and existing registered GSM number at the designated centre.

8. Complete biometric verification: Candidates must undergo mandatory biometric verification to establish their identity.

9. Upload the court affidavit: Finally, upload the scanned copy of the court affidavit to complete the update.

JAMB noted that this option is strictly for candidates with genuine cases of lost access.

The board emphasized that the service can only be accessed once per candidate, meaning all provided details must be verified carefully before final submission.
