A young Nigerian man has confessed to stealing N1.4 million from his ailing mother’s bank account to fund his online sports betting habit, eventually losing the entire sum.
The individual, whose identity remains withheld, made the startling disclosure in a viral video posted on social media, explaining how he systematically drained the account through multiple transactions before realizing the funds were completely gone.
Narrating his actions during the recorded confession, he disclosed that his streak began on September 13 when he transferred an initial sum of N100,000 into his personal betting wallet, followed immediately by a second withdrawal of N200,000 later that same day.
He explained that he continued making rapid, high-value transfers from his mother’s savings until the accumulated total reached N1.4 million, all of which was lost to failed bets.
“On September 13, I withdrew N100,000 from my sick mother’s account and put it into my betting account. On the same day, I withdrew N200,000 and put it into my betting account. I withdrew another N300,000 on the same day. I continued withdrawing until it added up to N1.4m, which I used to gamble. But the money was gone,” he said.
