President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has written to the Senate requesting the screening and confirmation of Engineer Sani Ndanusa as a non-career Ambassador-Designate, alongside seven candidates for positions on the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) Board.
The President also submitted a formal request to confirm Wakil Bulka as a member of the Federal Civil Service Commission, representing Bauchi, Borno, and Yobe states.
These requests were conveyed in separate letters addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and read during plenary.
For Ndanusa’s appointment, Tinubu cited Section 171, subsections 2(c) and 4 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
He attached Ndanusa’s curriculum vitae and appealed to the upper legislative chamber to process the confirmation expeditiously. Following the announcement, the Senate referred the nomination to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, directing it to report back in two weeks.
In another executive communication, Tinubu requested the confirmation of seven individuals to serve as Chairman and members of the FRC Board, invoking Section 5(3) of the Fiscal Responsibility Act, 2007.
The nominated FRC board members are:
- Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu (Chairman)
- Muhammad Asma’u (Member)
- Muhammad Aliyu Makama (Member)
- Suleiman Gidado, Ph.D. (Member)
- Hon. Louis Ndukwe (Member)
- Amechi Ugwele (Member)
- Olaniyi Idowu Onikola (Member)
This submission was assigned to the Senate Committee on Finance, which was given a two-week deadline to submit its report.
Furthermore, the nomination of Wakil Bulka for the Federal Civil Service Commission was directed to the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service, also with a two-week mandate for screening.
These recent executive actions are aimed at staffing critical roles across Nigeria’s diplomatic corps, fiscal regulation agencies, and public administration setup. All nominees must undergo full Senate screening before their appointments are finalized.
